The Chico Project of Greater Washington was founded by Maryland residents Michael Horlick and Liz Saint Rain after they read an article in the Yakima Herald Republic about a unique form of philanthropy being carried out by the local, animal-loving radio personality named Lance Tormey. Lance had taken it upon himself to raise money to buy animal resuscitation masks for all the fire departments in his area.

Thanks in no short part to Lance's enthusiastic offers of help getting started, the Chico Project has been able to place nearly thirty sets of masks in the DC area and throughout the country, reaching as far north as Hudson, NY and as far south as Venice, Florida. They continue to run the project from their home in Hyattsville.

The Chico Project is currently seeking volunteers in Maryland, Virginia and DC.

The Chico Project is in need of a logo. If you are a graphic designer and would like to donate your talents, please get in touch.

Fire departments interested in receiving masks should contact the group. All inquiries are welcome.

The volunteer fire department in Riverdale, Maryland is raising funds to prevent the seizure of its equipment. Please help if you can.
