There are currently about 150 million pets living with American families. All told, roughly 38% of the nearly 105 million households in this country have dogs, and roughly 32% of that same number have cats.

That means when US firefighters answered the nearly 1.5 million fire calls last year, 440,000 of which were house fires, they stood a fairly strong chance of encountering an injured house pet.

It is the central goal of the Chico Project of Greater Washington to provide rescue crews with the animal-specific, life-saving equipment necessary to provide Fido and Fluffy with the same, basic-level life support they provide for human family members.

The Chico Project is currently seeking volunteers in Maryland, Virginia and DC.

The Chico Project is currently in need of a logo. If you are a graphic designer and would like to donate your talents, please get in touch.

Fire departments interested in receiving masks should contact the group. All inquiries are welcome.

Your animal related advertisement could be in the space. Please contact the group if interested to discuss how to get started.
